Filmmaker Anees Bazmee has paid an emotional tribute to actor Mushtaq Khan, who won hearts as ‘Balu’ in the 2007 comedy hit ‘Welcome’. Sanjay Mishra has also remembered Khan as a “guardian”, while fans continue to share their memories of the late actor on social media.

Anees Bazmee posted a picture of Mushtaq Khan and wrote, “Shocked and speechless by the passing of Mushtaq Bhai (my balu). A truly remarkable artist and a beautiful soul. May Allah bless his soul and give strength to his family and loved ones.”Tributes have been pouring in across social media, with fans fondly recalling Khan and his work.
Sanjay Mishra remembers Khan as his ‘guardian’
National Award-winning actor Sanjay Mishra also mourned the loss. Speaking to ANI, he said, “Meri life me ek time pe woh guardian ho gaye the….jab bhi mujhe zarurt padti thi main unse suggestion le leta tha…dukhad news hai… woh ek bahut ache kalakaar the par unko itna credit nhi mila (There was a time in my life when he became like a guardian to me. Whenever I needed guidance, I would seek his suggestions. It is sad news... He did not get the recognition and credit he truly deserved).”
A career of over three decades
Khan made his film debut with ‘Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai’ in 1980, which began a career of more than thirty years. Known for his versatile performances, he appeared in many Hindi films, including ‘Welcome’, ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’.

Khan’s comic act in ‘Welcome’ remains a fan favourite, especially the famous scene with the dialogue “Meri ek taang nakli hai, main hockey ka bahut bada player hoon”. His comic timing and effortless style made the character unforgettable for audiences.Mushtaq Khan passed away on September 24 at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. Reportedly, he was battling lung cancer.
