The university fraternity expressed pride in the development and its role in advancing higher education and social justice

Visakhapatnam: As Andhra University prepares for its centenary celebrations, the Dr BR Ambedkar Chair at the university has been officially designated as the national nodal centre for the national portal of Dr. Ambedkar Chairs across India.

These Chairs operate under the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Prof. James Stephen Meka, Chair Professor of the Dr. Ambedkar Chair at Andhra University, has been appointed as the national nodal officer for the portal.

“This recognition during the centenary year stands as a testament to the enduring academic legacy of Andhra University. It also reflects the Chair’s social commitment and leadership in nation-building. The designation places the university at the forefront of coordinating, managing, and strengthening the digital ecosystem of all Dr. Ambedkar Chairs across the country,” said Prof. Stephen.

The national portal will serve as a unified platform for documentation, research dissemination, knowledge sharing, and academic collaboration, aligned with B.R. Ambedkar’s vision and the Digital India mission for inclusive growth. University officials described the achievement as a strong endorsement of the Chair’s performance and Andhra University’s capability to lead national-level initiatives.

“This is not just an achievement but a defining moment in the centenary celebrations,” officials added. The university fraternity expressed pride in the development and its role in advancing higher education and social justice.
