Amritsar: Amritsar Soormas on Sunday celebrated their title-winning campaign in the third season of the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League after defeating Ludhiana Lions by eight wickets in the final.Team owner Dr Shahbaz Singh said the victory was a proud moment for the city.“Amritsar has established its identity in religious and historical fields, and now its name has gained recognition in sports as well,” he said.Ludhiana Lions scored 142 for eight in the final, while Amritsar Soormas chased down the target in 16.4 overs, finishing at 144 for two. Sahaj Dhawan remained unbeaten on 63, Rahul Kumar scored 42 not out and captain Naman Dhir made 29. Mayank Markande took three wickets for 17 runs and was named player of the match.Dhir was named player of the series for his all-round performance and has subsequently been selected for India’s senior ODI squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies.Shahbaz said the league had provided young Punjab cricketers with an important professional platform to play alongside established players.
