Bhubaneswar: A father and his school-going daughter were injured after an Ama Bus, allegedly moving on the wrong flank of the road, hit their motorbike near Gadakana roundabout in Mancheswar on Saturday afternoon.Eyewitnesses said the mishap occurred shortly after school hours when the duo were travelling along the stretch. The impact led to minor injuries, triggering anger among locals, who detained the bus and its driver before informing Mancheswar police.Responding to the incident, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), which operates the Ama Bus service, said the vehicle was returning to Gadakana depot after completing a scheduled trip from Patia Square when the accident took place around 1:24 pm.“Due to ongoing road construction, the bus was proceeding cautiously along a diversion route as guided by personnel at the site. However, a father and daughter came in contact with the left side of the bus and were slightly pressed between the divider and the vehicle,” a CRUT statement said. The agency added that an off-duty Ama Bus guide and superviser present nearby rushed to assist the injured. “They demonstrated prompt presence of mind by providing first-aid on the spot and ensured both individuals were shifted to a nearby healthcare facility for proper treatment,” it said.
