Ranchi: The treasury and opposition benches engaged in a heated war of words on Tuesday after Ajsu Party MLA Nirmal Mahto was marshalled out for unruly behaviour.Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto asked Nirmal to be marshalled out after he descended to the well and began thumping the reporting table as the opposition lawmakers attempted to corner the govt claiming that the law and order in Jharkhand had been deteriorating.“I wanted to contradict the statement of Parliamentary Affairs minister (Radha Krishana Kishore), who claimed that the govt was not giving incorrect replies to questions. The MLAs in the treasury benches pointed their figures at me, following which I went to the well to protest,” Nirmal said.Leader of opposition Babulal Marandi backed Nirmal, the MLA from Mandu, and said his grievances should have been heard by the speaker. Hatia MLA Navin Jaiswal claimed that the treasury benches had provoked Nirmal. Tourism minister Sudivya Kumar refuted the allegations of opposition MLAs.The House returned to order for business after speaker, on request of Kishore, asked Nirmal to rejoin the business proceedings.Marandi alleged that the state govt is not being run by the people but by the bureaucracy. Alleging that law and order had deteriorated and corruption is rampant, Marandi sought a discussion on the issue instead of the question hour. Kishore however turned down Marandi’s demand stating that he can ask for a special discussion in the business advisory committee meeting. Earlier, Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee demanded that cycles, clothes and scholarships be provided to the students of minority schools. Sudivya, agreeing that there should be no discrimination, assured to address the issue.
