Ajmer: A Class 10 student died at JLN Hospital early Friday after allegedly being assaulted by a youth and his friends following a birthday party on Oct 7. Police added a murder charge and launched a search for the accused.Rohit Kumar (17), a resident of Ajay Nagar, had attended his friend’s birthday party in Ramganj with his nephew. He had a dispute there with Manoj Kumar, according to an FIR registered at Ramganj police station.After the party, Manoj allegedly called 10 friends to Bhagwanganj Churaha and abused Rohit. When Rohit objected to the language, they allegedly attacked him with punches and kicks.Rohit called his father, Rakesh Kumar, who took him to JLN Hospital. Police registered an FIR against Manoj and his friends for assault the next day.Rohit was discharged on Oct 14 but was readmitted that night after developing stomach pain. He died during treatment early on Friday.Ramganj police station SHO Haripal Singh said the body had been sent for post-mortem and a murder charge added after Rohit’s death.Rakesh, a labourer, sought strict action against the accused. Rohit was his only son. He and his wife also have a three-year-old daughter.
