Chennai: All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK) president P Sakkaravarthy said he was “expelling” party general secretary V K Sasikala from the outfit on Wednesday. Sakkaravarthy told reporters that there were no efforts on the part of Sasikala to nurture the party. Multiple attempts to meet her after the assembly elections failed, he said. “Not just me, she has not met any of the functionaries and cadres. How can someone who doesn’t meet the functionaries run the party. Hence we decided to remove her,” he said. Sasikala allied with the PMK faction headed by S Ramadoss and fielded candidates in more than 70 constituencies during the assembly election.
