Chennai: The AIADMK on Saturday staged a protest in Dindigul district against the alleged fraudulent transfer of prime Palani temple land worth Rs 100 crore to private buyers, demanding an immediate CBI investigation.

Led by senior AIADMK leader and former Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan, party functionaries gathered in large numbers raised slogans against the current administration, accusing authorities of “facilitating illegal registrations” under the watch of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.

During the protest, he alleged that the land belonging to the historic Palani Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple was fraudulently registered to a private individual.

The former minister alleged that the land in dispute, belonging to the temple, is estimated to be worth about Rs 100 crore.

“The illegal sale, which was made to two individuals, was registered despite a litigation pending before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court”, he claimed.

He alleged that three main suspects remain at large, and no action has been taken against the officials responsible or the buyers who acquired the property for Rs 2 crore.
Accordingly, he insisted that only a full-fledged investigation by the CBI could uncover the full extent of official collusion and restore the sacred property to the temple trust.
