Ahmedabad: Senior officials have been directed to ramp up passenger safety on Western Railway and dismantle drug trafficking networks by leveraging artificial intelligence tools and surveillance technologies across its jurisdictions in Gujarat, an official said on Sunday.Chairing the Western Railway crime conference in Ahmedabad, Gujarat director general of police (CID Crime & Railways) K L N Rao mandated streamlined e-FIR processing, heightened police presence on trains, and enhanced protective measures to guarantee passenger safety.DGP gave a detailed review of the e-FIR process for quick complaint and resolution of crimes, and emphasised strengthening CCTV surveillance and technology-based monitoring at railway stations, the official said.Officials have been instructed to take strict action to prevent thefts and pickpocketing on trains and railway stations and to increase police presence and regular patrols, he said.The DGP has called for the use of modern software/tools such as ‘Sudarshan’, ‘Gandiv’ and NATGRID – National Intelligence Grid.DGP said that officials were directed to take stricter measures regarding the campaign against narcotics, including intensive checking of suspicious passengers and luggage to stop the smuggling of drugs through railway routes, to extend the investigation to the root of the network to break the supply chain of drugs and to conduct coordinated special operations against inter-state gangs
