Prayagraj: AI-powered surveillance helped authorities catch 15 impersonators on the first day of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission on Thursday at 955 examination centres across the state.The fake candidates — seven in the first shift and eight in the second — were detected through AI-enabled monitoring from the Commission’s Integrated Control Command Room in Prayagraj, where chairman Dr Prashant Kumar and other officials supervised the examination. The accused were handed over to the local police for legal action.Officials said AI cameras installed at all examination centres kept continuous watch on candidates throughout the day, enabling real-time monitoring and detection of suspicious activities.The commission said the examination was conducted smoothly in a transparent, fair, cheating-free and uninterrupted manner across all designated centres.A total of 8,07,636 candidates had registered for the examination in both shifts. Of them, 6,84,614 candidates (84.76%) appeared. The attendance among female candidates was 84.69%, while 84.86% of registered male candidates took the examination.
