AHMEDABAD: A 65-year-old woman was found dead inside her home in the Kubernagar area of Ahmedabad early on Wednesday, with her hands and legs tied with jewellery and cash were reported missing from her safe, police said.The deceased, identified as Bharti Bajarang, lived alone near a temple in the Chharanagar locality. Sarfarnagar police registered a case on Wednesday under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 311 (robbery or dacoity) and 331(8) a (house-breaking after sunset and before sunrise), after her son, Hitesh Bajarang, filed a complaint.According to the complaint, the family was alerted in the early hours when a worker associated with the house called to say that Bharti was lying on the floor and not responding despite repeated knocking.The family rushed to the residence and, finding the front door shut from inside, forced it open. Inside, Bharti was found lying near the bed with her hands and legs tied with cloth. A bloodstained pillow was seen near her head. The room light was on, and the house appeared ransacked, with the locker open and household items scattered.The family also noticed that the rear kitchen door was open and not locked from either side.They found that a gold chain and earrings, together weighing about 1.5 tolas and valued at around Rs 1.5 lakh, were missing. Approximately Rs 1 lakh in cash kept in the house was also gone.The complainant stated that the incident likely took place after 11.30 pm on Tuesday night, when his mother had gone to a nearby neighbour to buy pan masala.Investigators suspect that unknown persons entered the house late on Tuesday night and fled after killing the woman and stealing valuables.
