Ahmedabad: Following a strict crackdown on dust control and urban safety, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) sealed three major construction sites in the Gota ward on Saturday. The action was taken after the projects failed to install mandatory green nets and barricades, which are essential to contain particulate matter.A specialized team from the AMC’s Estate and Town Development Officer (TDO) department (North West Zone) conducted a surprise inspection and officially halted work at the Evera, S Plus, and Solo Bliss 2 sites. These projects were found in direct violation of the city’s Good Construction Practice Policy. Furthermore, the Solo Bliss site was slapped with a ₹1 lakh fine for allowing heavy construction materials to spill onto the public road, creating a significant traffic hazard. The enforcement drive extended to other areas, where a Bodakdev construction site was fined ₹50,000 for causing excessive air pollution. In the Thaltej ward, another developer was penalized ₹1 lakh for failing to follow safety regulations. Simultaneously, AMC crews cleared illegal encroachments from the 12-meter-wide service road stretching from KD Hospital to Ognaj Circle to ensure smoother traffic flow.
