Ahmedabad: On Monday morning between 7am and 8am, the western part of the city, including Bodakdev, Thaltej, Science City, Chandlodia and Memnagar, received one to two inches of rainfall in just one hour. As a result, water accumulated in surrounding areas, including the service roads of SG Highway, causing hardship for residents.The rainfall recorded during the period was as follows: 26mm in Bodakdev, 42.5 mm in Science City, 27.5mm in Chandlodiya, 43mm in Thaltej, and 26.5mm in Memnagar. Between 7am and 1pm on Monday, Bodakdev recorded 32mm, Science City 47mm, Chandlodia 29.5mm, Thaltej 49.5mm and Memnagar 37mm.This led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, particularly along the SG Highway service roads, causing major inconvenience for commuters. Traffic jams were also witnessed on several roads. The city recorded an average rainfall of 18.34mm between 7am and 1pm on Monday.Sector A and Sector B of Sterling City Society in Bopal were also waterlogged, forcing several residents to shift their belongings to upper floors. Additionally, vehicles had to be moved due to the rising water levels.Waterlogging was also reported on Bakeri Road in Vejalpur, near Judges Bungalows Road in Gota, on Sanskrit Apartments Road in Ghatlodia and at Hirabaug Society in Vasna. Water accumulated in front of the ICAI Bhavan in Chandlodia, near Helmet Circle in Bodakdev and on SG Highway service road in Thaltej.
