Ahmedabad: Hitendra Brahmbhatt, 59, who is mentally unwell, had left his Vastrapur home 25 days ago and wandered the city streets as police and his family searched for him — but fittingly, he was reunited with his sister on Rakshabandhan.Brahmbhatt lives alone and does not use a mobile phone. He went missing on Aug 3 after leaving his home around 10am. Vastrapur police said he had apparently lost his way while moving around the city. His sister, Varshaben Barot, a retired professor at a college in Kadi, approached Vastrapur police on Aug 6 after learning that her brother had not been seen at home. According to her complaint, she frequently visited Brahmbhatt. The family became concerned after his tiffin service provider informed Barot that meals delivered to Brahmbhatt’s home had remained unopened. The family searched nearby areas and contacted relatives, but could not trace him. Police then circulated his details and began searching for him.Eventually, a Vastrapur police team traced Brahmbhatt and brought him safely back to his family.“Brahmbhatt never married,” said G M Chaudhary of Vastrapur police.
