Ahmedabad: A 57-year-old gym owner was injured after being stabbed by one of four men who entered his residence in Ghatlodia shortly after midnight on Wednesday. His 53-year-old wife, who works with a pharmaceutical firm in Changodar, filed a complaint with Ghatlodia police, stating that the group entered the house, demanded money and attacked her husband.According to the FIR, the incident took place around 12.15am at the family’s residence in Memnagar. The couple and their 16-year-old son were present at home. The son had returned after playing badminton in the society when someone knocked on the door. When the door was opened, a man known to the family entered the house with three others. The FIR stated the group questioned the family about an earlier complaint filed against them. They told the family they had incurred expenses of Rs 2.6 lakh due to the complaint and demanded Rs 4.6 lakh, including interest. The complainant stated that the men continued to argue and used abusive language. She told police that she asked the group to leave and return the next day. During the exchange, one of the men took out a knife. It was briefly put away after she pleaded with them to leave her and her family. But those accused kept abusing her husband and their minor son. When her husband objected, another man allegedly took the knife and stabbed her husband in the abdomen, resulting in his intestines being pulled out. The victim started bleeding, and the family raised an alarm, screaming for help. To avoid any altercation with other people rushing to the victim’s house, the four men left. The injured man was taken to a private hospital in Bodakdev, where he is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. The complaint also states that the accused had earlier approached the couple’s son and demanded money, claiming that he owed it to them. Ghatlodia police registered a case of attempted murder, trespass, extortion and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against four persons.
