Ahmedabad: A day after Ramol firecracker factory blast, the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) launched a citywide inspection drive, checking 147 premises and issuing 30 notices for violations of fire safety norms. Four units were sealed during the operation.The inspections were carried out across all seven zones of the city on Sunday, with warehouses, godowns, commercial establishments, and seasonal businesses coming under scrutiny. Fire officials said the drive would be intensified from Monday as part of a sustained enforcement campaign.Of the 30 notices issued, 23 were served on warehouses and godowns, while seven were issued to other commercial establishments. No factories or industrial units were found violating fire safety norms during Sunday’s inspections.The south-west zone accounted for the bulk of the action, with 21 notices issued to establishments, including transport companies, furniture showrooms, automobile service centres, packaging units, and laminate manufacturers. The central zone recorded four notices, the north-west zone three, the south zone one, and the north zone one. No notices were issued in the west and east zones.Among the establishments served notices were an Ola Electric service centre, West Point Honda, Honest Decor Pvt Ltd, Goodluck Furniture, ABC Transport, and several seasonal firecracker shops.The intensified drive follows heightened concerns over fire safety after the explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Ramol claimed nine lives on Saturday.
