Ahmedabad: After a six-month delay, AMC finally launched the smart flap-parking system for four-wheelers on Tuesday along CG Road, stretching from Stadium Crossroads to Panchvati Crossroads. Two hundred and eighty parking units have been installed, and citizens can pay to use them by scanning a QR code. No parking fee will be charged for four-wheelers for the first five minutes, after which the charge will be Rs 20 per hour.An AMC official stated: “When citizens park in a designated slot, a sensor-based flap barrier will rise to lock the vehicle.” The official said when citizens retrieve their vehicles, the system will automatically calculate the parking duration.Once the parking fee is paid, the flap barrier will unlock. No cash payments will be accepted. If anyone demands cash for parking, citizens should immediately contact the helpline. Personnel of an AMC-approved agency will oversee parking operations. They will carry ID cards and wear yellow T-shirts bearing the AMC logo.AMC has instructed citizens not to park two-wheelers in flap-parking slots. Penal action, including wheel-locking, will be taken against offenders.The official added: “The deputy estate officer of AMC’s West Zone is issuing notices to commercial buildings along CG Road to deploy personnel if necessary to ensure that vehicles are parked properly.”To report any problems relating to flap parking, citizens can contact AMC helpline at 7041040111, the official said.AMC deputy municipal commissioner Riddhesh Raval stated: “AMC had also installed a smart parking system on South Bopal Center Road, which will now be relocated.”
