Gorakhpur: Agricultural scientist and researcher from the district, Padma Shri recipient Prof Ram Chet Chaudhary, was conferred with the prestigious Rashtra Ratna Award in a ceremony at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day, his office informed. Chaudhary received the honour in recognition of his distinguished achievements and service in the field of education and research. He has worked with the United Nations. He made significant contributions to agricultural development and research, including his work towards the development and promotion of Kalanamak rice, an indigenous rice variety associated with eastern UP and known for its distinctive aroma and quality.The award was presented during a national event organised by the Institute of Social and Research Establishment (ISRHE), New Delhi, attended by ambassadors, ministers from India and Nepal and distinguished representatives from universities and research institutions.The event was jointly organised by the Institute of Social and Research Establishment, the ministry of social affairs and the World Buddhist Organization. Speakers highlighted the importance of education, research and social development while recognising individuals for their outstanding contributions to society.
