Lucknow: With BJP’s Uttar Pradesh in charge Vinod Tawde rolling out a broader electoral roadmap, the stage is set for the much-anticipated visits of the party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin to UP, ahead of the high-stakes state assembly elections scheduled early next year.While Tawde, during his two-day visit to Lucknow, outlined the party’s overarching poll strategy, sources said the blueprint for an intensified grassroots campaign is expected to be drawn up further by BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh, who is likely to arrive in the state capital soon.Party insiders said state office-bearers, members of the state executive and leaders of various frontal organisations have been asked to finalise action plans aimed at energising the cadre and building momentum for the election campaign.The timing of Santhosh’s intervention is seen as significant. While Tawde’s role has largely been centred on giving political direction to the state unit, Santhosh is expected to focus on the organisational machinery required to implement that strategy on the ground. His deliberations will involve party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, state office-bearers, members of the state executive and representatives of the party’s various frontal organisations. Sources said that Santhosh is expected to sharpen his focus on well-oiled coordination between the organisation and the state govt machinery headed by CM Yogi Adityanath.Party sources said the leaders have been asked to finalise action plans aimed at energising the cadre, strengthening booth-level mobilisation and building an election-oriented momentum across the state. The emphasis is likely to be on converting BJP’s organisational network into a campaign mechanism capable of sustaining activity over the coming months rather than relying only on high-profile rallies and public meetings. This will include reviving the dormant cadre and boosting the existing ground forces.The move also comes ahead of the much-expected visits of BJP’s top central leadership, including PM Modi, Shah and Nabin. Sources said that the rallies of Modi are proposed to be strategically planned across the six organisational regions where key projects could be inaugurated. The rallies are expected to be timed around Nov, sources said.Their visits are expected to give the party’s campaign a sharper political edge and help establish the larger themes around which BJP intends to approach the electorate. The party’s strategy, experts said, is expected to combine central leadership-driven campaigning with an intensive booth-level exercise.The frontal organisations are likely to have an important role in this effort. Their mobilisation can allow BJP to take its campaign beyond conventional political meetings and connect with different social and occupational groups through issue-specific programmes. The state unit’s task will be to ensure coordination between these organisations and the main party machinery.
