Patna: Rohini Acharya, the estranged daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, on Tuesday said she would be visiting her parents soon, indicating the family rift may be slowly easing. The revelation assumes significance since this comes about a year after she publicly announced “quitting politics and disowning her family”.“For me, nothing is greater than my Papa, his happiness, and his blessings. No command is greater than his call…..so I’m coming soon, to my Papa, to fulfil my duty as a daughter,” she posted on social media on Tuesday.The post drew various reactions on social media, with some saying “Apne to apne hote hain” (At the end, you always turn to your own) while others commented that “Kita filmi hain ye log (How dramatic are these people)”.Trouble in the family began last Nov shortly after the RJD’s poll disaster in the Bihar assembly elections, where the party was restricted to 25 seats, with Tejashwi Prasad Yadav barely managing to save his position as the leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly.Rohini, who is based in Singapore, had revolted and left her parental home in Patna subsequently after the poll setback allegedly triggered bitter verbal exchanges between her and Tejashwi. In a social media post later, she expressed shock that “own people” were attempting to erase the contributions of those who built the family’s political legacy.She followed it up with another cryptic remark, saying, “When arrogance takes over, destructive forces become the eye, nose and ears… It happens when the veil falls over wisdom.”In between, she posed with a gun in her hand, widely interpreted as a message aimed at her “rivals” though she refrained from naming anyone.Rohini, who unsuccessfully contested the Saran Lok Sabha election, had announced in Nov last year that she was quitting politics and “disowning” her family after the public fallout.In May this year, Lalu visited Singapore for a medical check-up and was received by Rohini at the airport. Rohini had earlier donated one of her kidneys to her father.
