Kolkata/Jhargram: Bengal Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) arrested a govt official at Jamboni BDO while accepting a bribe. This comes with the ACB launching a public outreach drive against administrative corruption, encouraging citizens to report public servants demanding bribes.The agency has issued a public notice and initiated an extensive online campaign to popularise dedicated helpline numbers and email channels. CM Suvendu Adhikari had launched the helpline number and the email address recently to help whistleblowers reach agencies directly. The dedicated helpline number is 9836233891 and the email acb-wb@nic.in.In an official statement, the agency declared: “The directorate of Anti-Corruption Branch, Bengal, is committed to ensuring transparency, integrity, and accountability in public service. If any govt official or public servant demands or solicits a bribe, threatens or coerces you into paying money, or if you have information regarding any act of corruption, you are requested to report the matter immediately.”Thursday’s arrest was made after a tip-off from a whistleblower. According to officials, sub-assistant engineer Bimal Saha had demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to clear outstanding bills for a sub-contractor who completed the construction of a local sub-health centre. Agency officers intercepted Saha at the moment the transaction took place, seizing the bribe money on the spot.
