Guwahati: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday directed police to adopt a modern, people-centric approach to crime control.Sarma issued the directive while reviewing law and order and police administration at a meeting attended by DGP Harmeet Singh and senior police and home department officials.According to the CM’s Office, the meeting discussed child marriage, polygamy, crime control, reforms in the Home Guards and Village Defence Parties, Dial 112 emergency services, battalion projects, police housing and rationalisation of police station jurisdictions.Sarma also emphasised stronger crime prevention, better investigations and timely conviction of offenders.
