Mysuru: Indian philosopher Adi Shankaracharya continues to inspire the world through his profound Advaita philosophy and timeless spiritual contributions, said Krishnaraja MLA T S Srivatsa on Tuesday.He was speaking after inaugurating the Sri Shankaracharya Jayanti celebrations held at Kiru Rangamandira in Kalamandira, jointly organised by the district administration, Department of Kannada and Culture, Mysuru City Corporation and Jayantotsava Committee. Highlighting the philosopher’s life, the BJP MLA said Shankaracharya travelled across India on foot to propagate Advaita and composed more than 300 works, including the celebrated Bhaja Govindam. Despite a short lifespan of just 32 years, he established four Peethas in different parts of the country and left an enduring legacy. Swami Sarvajayananda of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama emphasised the need to present Advaita philosophy in a simple and practical manner for common people. Scholar Ga Na Bhat described Shankaracharya as the rejuvenator of Hindu thought who harmonised multiple traditions under the concept of Shanmata.
