Bengaluru: Adani Group-backed Cemindia Projects Ltd has emerged as the lowest bidder for construction of a 7.8km elevated section of Corridor-2 of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), including a 1.2km rail-cum-road double-decker structure at Mathikere.The financial bids opened by K-Ride (Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company) showed Cemindia quoting Rs 665.6 crore against the estimated project cost of Rs 671.6 crore. Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd quoted Rs 759 crore, HG Infra Engineering Ltd Rs 790 crore, and Afcons Infrastructure Ltd Rs 802 crore.K-Ride is a JV of the state and central govts executing the 148km suburban rail project. On Aug 23, Adani Group founder Gautam Adani met chief minister DK Shivakumar. The CM later termed the meeting a courtesy visit.Earlier, Adani Group had emerged as the lowest bidder for the tunnel road project between Hebbal and Silk Board. The tender for elevated corridor of Corridor-2 was floated in May.A major engineering component of the package is the approximately 1.2km double-decker structure on Mohan Kumar Road between Mathikere and Yeshwantpur. The structure will accommodate a road flyover at the lower level and an elevated suburban rail viaduct above it, allowing two transport systems to share the same right of way.The double-decker project is intended to address the constraints of the densely developed Mathikere-Yeshwantpur area by reducing the requirement for additional land acquisition while providing both road and rail capacity within a single corridor.Mallige Line (Corridor-2) of BSRP runs approximately 25km from Byappanahalli to Chikkabanavara, comprising about 8km of elevated alignment and 17.5km at grade.This project was stalled after L&T backed out in June 2025 over the non-availability of land for executing the project. L&T had also dragged K-Ride to court. Later, K-Ride floated fresh tenders for the project, and contracts for two sections were issued.
