New Delhi: Two people were injured after an acid-like substance in a bottle burst open inside a car in southeast Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.According to Delhi Fire Service, a call about a “car fire” was received around 5.04 pm, after which two tenders reached the spot. Officials found that there was no fire, but an acid-like substance stored in a bottle inside the vehicle burst, releasing toxic fumes.A DFS official said, “The two passengers in the car inhaled the fumes and lost consciousness.” The passengers, identified as Anil, 42, and Jyotsana, 42, were subsequently rushed to AIIMS trauma centre. Anil has 18% burn injuries, while Jyotsana is on ventilator support, said police.Anil reportedly owns a pharmacy, due to which he may have had access to the bottle, a senior officer said.
