Rajkot: A fire broke out on the fifth floor of the District and Sessions Court complex on Rajkot–Jamnagar Road on Friday evening. No injuries were reported.The fire broke out between 4.15pm and 4.30pm in the courtroom of M D Jadav, the 8th additional civil judge and judicial magistrate first class (JMFC).According to police, the blaze was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the air-conditioning unit. The flames reportedly started in the judge’s chamber and spread towards the dais. People present in the courtroom initially tried to douse the flames using a fire extinguisher before the fire brigade arrived.A team from University police station led by PI Harsh Patel rushed to the spot.As soon as the fire was noticed, court staff and others present shifted electronic equipment and important case documents from the courtroom, preventing damage to crucial records. Fire department personnel later brought the situation under control.
