Mysuru: After trapping a clerk, Shivakumar, attached to Hunsur revenue sub-divisional office red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe, sleuths of Karnataka Lokayukta police on Monday arrested Hunsur revenue subdivision assistant commissioner Kavya Rani on charges of demanding a bribe.Both the officers were arrested after booking them under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. A team led by Lokayukta DSP Shylendra trapped Shivakumar soon after he allegedly received cash from the complainant outside the office. He received the money at the behest of the AC, who is a senior KAS officer, according to Lokayukta cops.Lokayukta SP TJ Udesha told TOI that both assistant commissioner Kavya Rani and second division assistant Shivakumar have been arrested and will be produced before a local court.According to the complainant, the AC had demanded money to transfer a property’s khata to her name. The complainant had purchased about 4.5 acre of land in HD Kote and then applied for transfer of khata. When she applied for the transfer, the AC allegedly took Rs 5 lakh as a bribe for the work. Later, the AC demanded an additional Rs 5.5 lakh from her to transfer the khata, Lokayukta cops said. The SDA was trapped while accepting cash from the complainant, they stated.
