Hazaribag: An absconding para teacher was arrested in connection with an alleged Rs 17 lakh land fraud case in Chatra district, while raids are on to trace four other accused, police said on Tuesday.The accused was identified as Farhat Begum alias Farhad Begum, 52, a resident of Tutilawa under Simaria police station limits. She is posted at the upgraded primary school in Ganzhu Tola of Tutilawa village.Police said the case was registered on Nov 23, 2025, on the complaint of Mohammad Qari Nesaruddin of Misraul village. The complainant alleged that Farhat and four others entered into an agreement on June 3, 2023, to sell 5.21 acres of land in Tutilawa and accepted Rs 17 lakh each for execution of the sale deed. While three accused later registered their share of 3.12 acres, Farhat and Shamsuddin allegedly failed to register their combined share of 2.08 acres despite receiving the money.Simaria police station officer in-charge Amit Kumar Gupta said, “Farhat was arrested on Monday in execution of a court-issued warrant. She was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.”Police said Farhat was also jailed earlier in a cheating case in Dhanbad in 2003.
