Education that shaped his early career foundation
Before entering the political arena, Abhishek Banerjee moved from Kolkata’s M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School to New Delhi for professional education. In 2009, he earned his BBA and MBA in Human Resource and Marketing from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM).
Currently, as the president of Trinamool Youth Congress (TMC), he also serves as a Member of Parliament from Diamond Harbour in the Lok Sabha.

In 2021, post a party hierarchy reshuffle he was elevated to a major organisational position, second only to Mamata Banerjee.
In 2025, his appointment as leader of Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha further formalised his position in both parliamentary and party hierarchies, signalling a clear generational shift within the leadership.

Beyond West Bengal as well, Abhishek Banerjee’s interventions have grown sharper, particularly in opposition to the NDA government. From criticising the proposed Uniform Civil Code to the Citizenship Amendment Act, his speeches indicate an attempt to position himself within the wider national ambit. This aligns with TMC’s ambition — to extend relevance beyond the state.
