Itanagar: A delegation of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) on Thursday set out for Taksing, a remote border village in Upper Subansiri district, amid concerns over alleged activities of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along the international frontier.The delegation, led by AAPSU general secretary Mato Bui, was flagged off from the union’s headquarters at the NEFA Club Building here by its president Meje Taku. The journey is being undertaken under the banner “Taksing Chalo, Bharat Bachao”.The visit comes amid claims and reports from residents regarding alleged Chinese incursions and PLA activities in areas near Taksing.Flagging off the delegation, Taku asserted that Arunachal Pradesh is an ‘integral and unalienable part of India’ and said the people of the state would oppose any attempt to threaten the country’s territorial integrity.“We will not sit idly by while our borders are threatened. We will fight to ensure that not a single inch of our land is handed over to Chinese forces,” he said.Taku also called upon Centre to strengthen infrastructure and security along the frontier, saying residents of border villages play a crucial role in safeguarding the country.“Our frontier citizens are the vanguard of the nation, living under constant threat yet standing tall for Mother India. Through this yatra, AAPSU is sending a clear message that the youth of Arunachal stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our border communities and our armed forces,” he said.AAPSU has also issued a notification asking community-based organisations, its federal units, student bodies and citizens, particularly those in Upper Subansiri district, to extend cooperation and participate in the programme.The union said concerns raised by residents of remote border villages require urgent attention from both Centre and the Arunachal Pradesh govt, stressing that their safety, security and welfare must remain a national priority.During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to interact with village heads, youth groups and community organisations to document issues faced by residents.AAPSU said it also plans to prepare a ground-assessment report for submission to Centre and the state govt, seeking stronger security measures, improved border infrastructure and accelerated development in remote frontier villages.The delegation is scheduled to reach Taksing by Independence Day on Aug 15 and hoist the national flag there as a reaffirmation of the state’s commitment to India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
