Prayagraj: Workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday staged a protest at the All Saints Cathedral crossing in Civil Lines against rising inflation and the recent hike in LPG cylinder prices. The demonstration was held on the call of senior party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, with party workers submitting a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the district administration.Protesters alleged that the economic policies of the BJP-led central govt pushed common people into financial distress, forcing them to bear the brunt of inflation and a shortage of LPG cylinders. They claimed that poor and middle-class families were the worst affected.AAP district president Sarvesh Yadav said the recent increase of Rs 60 in domestic LPG cylinder prices and Rs 120 in commercial cylinders added to the hardships of households as well as small traders. He said hotels, dhabas, restaurants and street food vendors faced a severe economic crisis due to rising fuel costs. Through the memorandum, the party demanded a rollback of the LPG price hike, a subsidy for poor and middle-class families, and a clear policy to control inflation.
