Jalandhar: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday said the Aam Aadmi Party’s “failed govt” decided to give Rs 1,000 per month to women for a few months by taking a loan of Rs 52,000 crore and selling govt properties. “This is an attempt to purchase votes by offering cash for a few months,” he said.“The AAP govt did not have any money for old age pension, the Shagun scheme, or for roads and sewerage works; instead, it spent Rs 4,400 crore on advertisements alone in the last 4 years,” he said while addressing a gathering at Saila Khurd grain market. Former MLA Surinder Singh Bhullewal Rathaan and other local leaders of district Hoshiarpur, who were in SAD (Punar Surjit), joined the Sukhbir-led SAD.SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami also addressed the gathering.Sukhbir claimed that the Giani Harpreet Singh-led party would be wiped out in Punjab, with its leaders realising they were hoodwinked into weakening their own “mother party” at the instance of central agencies.Levelling a very serious allegation against chief minister Bhagwant Mann, Sukhbir alleged that he amassed 2,500 acres of land in Australia through corrupt means. He claimed that the next SAD govt would eradicate gangsters and the drug mafia from the state. “We will bring in legislation to deny bail to gangsters and drug lords and seize their complete properties,” he said.
