Buxar: District administration on Thursday sealed an Aadhaar centre operating on the Dumraon block office premises after a surprise raid allegedly uncovered overcharging and other irregularities.Dumraon SDM Rajiv Kumar, accompanied by SDPO Sameer Kumar Singh, inspected the centre’s records and computer systems. Officials found that 52 Aadhaar-related transactions had been carried out a day earlier. While the prescribed fee for these services was estimated at around Rs 4,000, officials recovered Rs 9,070 from the centre staff, excluding their personal cash.Officials said the discrepancy suggested that customers may have been charged more than the approved rates. The centre was subsequently sealed and its computers, Aadhaar machines and other equipment were seized.The action followed repeated complaints of alleged overcharging for Aadhaar enrolment and update services. Officials said complaints had also been received about money being collected for services that are supposed to be provided free of cost.Three people working at the centre were detained for questioning, including two who were not authorised to operate there. The matter is under investigation, officials said.
