Patna: A N College, in association with Bihar State Health Society, organised an awareness programme to mark World Population Day, bringing together students, faculty members and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers. The event, based on this year’s theme, “Empowering young people to realise their aspirations for today and the future,” focused on promoting awareness about family planning, preventing child marriage and highlighting the risks associated with adolescent pregnancy.The programme was inaugurated by college principal Ratna Amrit and Dr Sarita, state programme officer (family planning), BSHS, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, Amrit stressed that a healthy, educated and informed youth population is essential for the country’s overall development. She encouraged students to adopt a scientific outlook and openly discuss health and family planning issues to spread awareness in society.Dr Sarita spoke about family planning, maternal and child health, and adolescent reproductive health, emphasising that timely and accurate information enables young people to make informed and responsible decisions. She also underlined the need to eliminate child marriage and reduce teenage pregnancies through sustained public awareness.As part of the event, students and NSS volunteers staged a street play on family planning, gender equality and healthy living. A bicycle rally carrying placards and awareness slogans was also organised across the college campus and nearby areas, promoting the message of responsible parenthood and healthy families.Julie Feast DayNotre Dame Academy celebrated Julie Feast Day to commemorate the life and legacy of St Julie Billiart, the co-founder of the Sisters of Notre Dame. The event was marked by prayers, celebrations and recognition of students for their academic achievements.Sister Mary Suchita attended the programme as the chief guest, while Sister Mary Jyotsna was the special guest. The function was presided over by the school’s principal, Sister Mary Neha. During the celebration, students from Julie School who had excelled in academics were felicitated for their outstanding performance. Meritorious students from different classes received awards and prizes in recognition of their dedication and hard work throughout the academic year.
