Prayagraj: A 50-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly beating his 30-year-old daughter to death in Gaura Attarsand village of Pratapgarh district, police said.The accused, identified as Ramlal, had brought his daughter from her in-laws’ house on Tuesday afternoon. Police said he allegedly assaulted her with sticks (lathi), causing grievous injuries that led to her death.After the assault, the accused allegedly placed the woman’s body outside his house and left it there.The incident came to light on Wednesday when a passerby noticed a woman lying unconscious in front of a house and alerted the police. On reaching the spot, police found that the woman was already dead and had multiple injury marks on her body.When police entered Ramlal’s house, they found him in an inebriated condition and detained him for questioning. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.A senior police officer said the woman was married to Ajay Kumar, a resident of Tala village under Kandhai police station limits, and was mother to two children. A joint team of forensic experts and police is probing the case.
