Palghar: A woman succumbed to burn injuries on Tuesday night after an illegally operating firecracker unit in Wada taluka exploded, that had also killed a labourer on the spot. The second victim has been identified as Monica Padole (22), who was working close to the spot where the blast took place on Tuesday afternoon. Padole was being treated at Bhiwandi hospital.Meanwhile, Palghar police have confirmed that they have arrested four accused in this case, which includes the land owner Vasant Naik (48), supervisor Yogesh Mokashi (43), and firecracker manufacturing unit owners—Narendra Singh (45) and Shripat Yadav (70). They have been booked under sections of explosives act and culpable homicide. Officials investigating this case have confirmed that they will question the supplier who had sold these explosives used to make firecrackers. The accused operating this unit used to get these explosives on a daily basis to manufacture these crackers and stored it in a hazardous manner, resulting in blast and subsequent deaths.
