Kolar: Cracking the whip on slow progress of census work, Kolar deputy commissioner M R Ravi Wednesday issued show-cause notice to eight officials, including six tahsildars, for lapses in house-listing and poor monitoring of enumerators.Ravi had reviewed the progress of census work on Tuesday and expressed concern over its slow pace. He noted that a significant number of enumerators failed to log in and carry out their assigned duties, hampering progress across multiple taluks. He subsequently directed that action be initiated against officials responsible for the delay. The tahsildars served with notices are Geetha (Mulbagal), Roopa (Malur), Bharath (KGF), Sujatha K S (Bangarpet), Sudheendra (Srinivasapura) and Nayana (Kolar). In addition, zilla panchayat chief planning officer Ravichandra N and Kolar DDPI Almas Parveen Taz have been issued notice for supervisory lapses.According to the notices, the census exercise has been significantly affected by the non-participation of enumerators. “In Mulbagal taluk alone, as many as 121 enumerators have not logged in, while Malur reported 256 such cases. Kolar taluk also witnessed 217 enumerators failing to log in, followed by 126 in KGF and 86 in Bangarpet,” the notice stated. Officials in the deputy commissioner’s office indicated that these figures point to inadequate oversight at the taluk level. The eight officials have been directed to submit written explanations within 24 hours of receiving the notices. Ravi warned that disciplinary proceedings will be initiated if satisfactory explanations are not provided.
