Vadodara: When the final of Late Anshuman Gaekwad Premier League organized by Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) began in the city on Thursday, Reliance was the favourite to win the trophy against the Youth Service Centre (YSC) club, which didn’t have many experienced players. However, the YSC boys stunned everyone by beating Reliance, which had many Ranji-level players in its side.YSC put up a total of 194 runs in 40.4 overs, with opener Akshay More scoring 53 off 72 runs in the one-day tournament. Parikshit Patidar and Shivang Sane scored 34 and 32 runs respectively, but no other batsmen could stay on the crease for a long time. Reliance lost its top order quickly against a fiery YSC bowling attack. Jyotsnil Singh scored a slow 31 off 65 balls.However, Vishnu Solanki brought his team back into the game by scoring 90 runs off 115 balls. But Patidar removed him at a crucial point in the game, after which the lower order collapsed. Only Abhimanyu Singh scored 39 from 83 balls. Reliance got bowled out for 187 runs in 49.4 overs. YSC won the final by seven runs. Parikshit Patidar from YSC was awarded Man of the Match for his all-round performance.The Reliance team had Ranji players such as Solanki, Ninad Rathwa, Shivalik Sharma, Jyotsnil Singh, Babasafi Pathan, Shashwat Rawat and Priyanshu Moliya, and the other players have played Ranji in the past. YSC, on the other hand, had Akshay More, who is currently a Ranji player, along with Parth Kohli and Shivang Shane, who had played Ranji in the past.“We lost our home cricket ground in Polo Ground, but our boys showed a lot of grit and determination to win this tournament against a very strong and experienced team like Reliance,” said Sudhir Parab, founder of YSC club.
