Dumka: In order to curb cybercrime, Deoghar police have now decided to attach properties of repeat offenders and impose Crime Control Act (CCA) on them. Deoghar SP Saurabh, after chairing a meeting with official of all police stations in the district on Wednesday evening, has asked all police station officials to begin identifying notorious cybercriminals to begin a crackdown. He said, “Action against active criminals will not be limited to arrests now. We will move towards property seizure and invoke stringent laws like CCA against habitual offenders.”The move comes amid growing concerns over cyber fraud cases, and instances of drug peddling involving youth. “Inputs indicate that repeat offenders have been frequently surfacing in multiple cases, prompting the need for tougher, and deterrent action,” the SP said.As part of the initiative, police personnel have been instructed to initiate physical verification of individuals involved in criminal activities over the past five years.Teams will be visiting residences of offenders to assess their current status and activities to categorise them in three groups- A, B and C. “The legal process to confiscate the properties of eight cybercriminals of the district has already been initiated,” the SP informed, adding that OCs have been tasked with identifying at least 10 active cybercriminals in their jurisdiction to initiate such actions against them.He also directed officials to expedite the disposal of pending cases and strengthen law and order across all police station areas. On the issue of drug abuse among minors, SP Saurabh appealed to parents to seek police assistance. “We are committed to helping children trapped in addiction and will extend all possible support for their rehabilitation,” he said.
