Salem: A 37-year-old guest worker, who fainted at TVK leader Vijay’s rally, died of heart attack while being taken to a private hospital in the city on Friday.The deceased has been identified as Suraj, who was working in a silver workshop in the city. “He was taken to a private hospital, but died on the way,” said a police officer from the Annadhanapatty station. Suraj, who came from Maharashtra 20 years ago, settled in the city. He is survived by wife Priyanka, 32, a daughter, and a son. In a statement on X, TVK joint general secretary C T R Nirmalkumar said Suraj was immediately given first aid and taken to hospital in time. “But it is sad that Suraj died of heart attack. We express our deepest condolences on this unexpected death of young Suraj.” Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai also expressed his condolences to Suraj’s family. “His passing is an irreparable loss to his family, friends, and all who loved him,” Selvaperunthagai said in his X post.
