Nagpur: In a major drive against illegal liquor trade, rural police registered nine cases against 12 accused and seized illicit liquor and related items worth 75,000. At Katol police station, six cases were filed, including against six women for selling ‘mahua’ liquor. Cops seized 600 litres of illicit alcohol and equipment. Another case involved Dhanraj Mahadev Wagh for possessing 10 bottles of country liquor. Separate raids resulted in seizure in Kelvad, Umred, Kanhan, Khapa, and Narkhed. Cases were registered under various sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. Officials noted that illegal liquor sales remain rampant across rural Nagpur. TNN
