Dharwad: Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha has urged railway ministry to allow candidates to write departmental and promotional examinations in Kannada, saying that denying this option amounts to injustice to Kannadigas.A delegation led by Sangha president Chandrakant Bellad met union minister of state for railways V Somanna in Hubballi and submitted a memorandum. The sangha said the absence of an option to write internal and promotional exams in the regional language has led to discrimination against Kannada-speaking Railway employees. It warned that if this injustice to regional language speakers is not corrected immediately, it would result in continued discrimination, especially against Kannadigas. The delegation sought clear orders permitting Kannada as an additional language for these exams and urged the ministry to take immediate corrective measures.Responding to the representation, Somanna assured the delegation that the issue would be examined at the earliest and that necessary steps would be taken to address the concern.
