Mandya: Ahead of the much-anticipated Budanuru Utsav, Mandya deputy commissioner Kumara issued instructions to ensure foolproof safety and convenience for the public during the helitourism programme scheduled from Feb 20 to 22.He directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements at the helipad site, noting that the 3-day event is expected to draw large crowds. He emphasised that essential facilities such as safe drinking water, toilets, parking spaces and adequate lighting must be in place to avoid any inconvenience to visitors.Highlighting the importance of emergency preparedness, DC Kumara instructed that a dedicated medical team comprising experienced doctors and sufficient first-aid facilities be deployed at the venue, along with a standby ambulance. He also mandated the presence of the fire department with fire tenders on site to handle any unforeseen incidents during the helitourism operations. To ensure smooth management, officials were told to establish a clearly marked ticket counter displaying all helipad rules and regulations for public awareness.As part of the Budanuru Utsav celebrations, the helitourism initiative will offer visitors a unique bird’s-eye view of the festivities. The aerial experience is priced at Rs 3,800 per person for a 7-minute ride. For safety reasons, children below 5 years of age will not be permitted to participate.Superintendent of police VJ Shobharani underlined the need for strict security measures. She said passengers must follow a queue system while purchasing tickets and comply with all safety protocols. Electronic gadgets, mobile phones and water bottles will be strictly prohibited during the flight. Passengers must use designated pathways to reach the helipad and carry a valid govt-issued identity card to board the helicopter.Assistant commissioner Shivamurthy, fire department superintendent Raghavendra, MIMS director Narasimhamurthy, Dr Javaregowda and Dr Veerabhadrappa were also present.
