Chandigarh: Haryana has secured investment proposals worth nearly Rs 12,000 crore on the first day of chief minister Nayab Singh Saini’s Gujarat visit, with the state govt stepping up its industry outreach ahead of the ‘Happening Haryana Global Summit’ scheduled for April 2027.The proposed investments span defence textiles, technical textiles, industrial machinery, solar energy, cosmetics manufacturing and waste-to-energy, signalling the govt’s push to diversify Haryana’s industrial base and attract fresh capital beyond its traditional automotive and manufacturing sectors. The biggest proposals include Rs 5,000 crore in defence textiles, Rs 4,000 crore in waste-to-energy, Rs 2,000 crore in technical textiles and Rs 500 crore in industrial machinery. Another Rs 400 crore has been proposed in solar energy and cosmetics manufacturing.Saini, accompanied by industries and commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh, held one-on-one meetings with founders, managing directors and CEOs of companies, pitching Haryana’s industrial infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and simplified approval mechanisms. The outreach comes as the BJP govt seeks to position investment mobilisation and employment generation as key deliverables, with the 2027 global summit expected to provide a larger platform for attracting domestic and international investors. The chief minister invited industry leaders to participate in the summit, assuring them of time-bound approvals, single-window clearances and support for setting up or expanding industrial units.“Investment outreach has to translate into actual projects on the ground. Haryana is working to reduce procedural hurdles and provide investors with the infrastructure, clearances and policy support required to implement projects within stipulated timelines,” said Rajesh Khullar, chief principal secretary to the CM.Govt said the proposed investments would help expand Haryana’s industrial ecosystem, generate ancillary business opportunities and create jobs for young people. It also emphasised that incentives would be extended in accordance with applicable policies and rules.Amit Aggarwal, secretary and commissioner, industries, said Haryana’s industrial proposition was strengthened by its connectivity, established manufacturing base and availability of modern industrial facilities, including plug-and-play infrastructure.“The combination of infrastructure, connectivity and a responsive policy framework can make Haryana an attractive destination for companies looking to expand their operations,” he said.During the meetings, investors expressed interest in the state’s investment promotion schemes, ease-of-doing-business initiatives and industrial infrastructure. They also shared suggestions on emerging sectoral opportunities.Govt said it was working to streamline regulatory procedures and strengthen coordination among departments to facilitate investments. The proposals mark an early outcome of the Gujarat outreach, with their eventual conversion into projects likely to depend on implementation, land and infrastructure requirements, statutory clearances and investment timelines.
