Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old Delhi govt employee was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by his wife’s lover at his home in Vasundhara on Monday morning. Shashank Kanthariya, who works as a senior accountant for the Delhi govt, was asleep with his three-year-old daughter next to him when the accused snuck in and attacked him.According to police, Kanthariya’s wife Priya (32) went to a gym nearby around 5am every day and never locked the door when she left the house. On Monday, she did the same while her daughter and husband were asleep in the bedroom. The accused allegedly snuck in after she left and attacked Kanthariya with a knife.The accused stabbed Kanthariya several times. He woke up during the attack and started shouting for help, and the attacker fled the spot as the noise drew neighbours out. Kanthariya’s daughter also woke up and began crying, further alerting the neighbours, who rushed Kanthariya to a nearby hospital, where he is still undergoing treatment.Kanthariya’s daughter was unharmed in the incident.ACP (Indirapuram) Suryabali Maurya said a resident of the society, MT Joshi, spotted the accused fleeing the scene with blood on his hands. Joshi tried to catch him, but the accused pushed him away and even managed to flee past security guards. The guards, however, followed him out on a bike and managed to catch him and handed him over to police. Two knives were also recovered from his possession.Cops identified the accused as Pratap Singh (30), a resident of Shamli who works as a trainer at a gym in the area. Singh met Priya in Jan this year when he began working at the gym she frequented and later became her trainer in Feb. The two allegedly started a romantic relationship and wished to get married.Priya colluded with Singh and told him she would leave the door unlocked on Monday morning, allowing Singh to sneak into the flat and attack her husband as he slept. Singh and Priya have both been detained, police said.An FIR will soon be registered in the case and further proceedings are underway, police added.
