Vadodara: ITM SLS Baroda University has inaugurated a specialised training centre at its Paldi campus to develop skilled professionals for India’s rapidly growing semiconductor manufacturing sector.Named the SemiOrbit Skill Excellence Centre, the initiative is a collaboration between INOX India Ltd (INOXCVA), INOX Air Products, Swagelok Bombay and the university. The centre will offer training programmes, workshops and certification courses in orbital welding and process piping for students, trainees and working professionals. These specialised skills play a crucial role in semiconductor manufacturing, particularly in ensuring contamination-free, ultra-high-purity gas distribution systems. The centre aims to bridge the gap between conventional technical education and the industry’s growing demand for precision-trained professionals.Aligned with the objectives of the India Semiconductor Mission, the initiative seeks to build a skilled workforce capable of supporting semiconductor fabrication and advanced electronics manufacturing in the country.Siddharth Jain, managing director of INOX Group, said that investing in specialised human capital was as important as investing in technology and infrastructure to realise India’s semiconductor ambitions.Amit Advani, chairperson and managing director of Swagelok Bombay, highlighted the need for a workforce equipped to meet international standards of precision and quality.Deepak Acharya, CEO of INOX India, emphasised that specialised welding and piping skills were essential for ensuring reliable, contamination-free systems in semiconductor manufacturing.
