Srinagar, Oct 20: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary (Organisation) Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Tuesday criticised the National Conference-led government, alleging that it had failed to fulfil its election promises despite completing two years in office.
Hanjura said people were facing numerous difficulties while commitments made in the government’s election manifesto remained unfulfilled. He called for accountable governance, a responsive administration and concrete action on issues affecting people’s daily lives.
He stressed that electoral promises must translate into tangible results on the ground rather than remain political commitments.
Hanjura made these remarks while presiding over a meeting of district and zonal presidents of the PDP’s Kashmir Province, convened to review organisational matters, assess grassroots functioning and strengthen coordination among party units.
The meeting was attended by PDP General Secretary Mohammad Khursheed Alam, spokesperson Mohammad Iqbal Trumboo, former state secretary Arif Laigroo, district presidents Mohammad Afzal Wani, G.M. Shahoori, Abdul Qayoom Bhat, Zaffar Ullah Wani, Adv. Sheikh Javaid, Zahoor Ahmed Rather, Mohammad Yaseen Bhat and Aijaz Ahmed Mir, along with zonal presidents.
Addressing party representatives, Hanjura emphasised the need for regular public interaction and greater accessibility at the grassroots level. He urged district and zonal leaders to listen to people’s grievances, understand their day-to-day challenges and raise their concerns through appropriate channels.
He said political organisations must remain connected with the public and consistently highlight issues affecting different sections of society.
The meeting also discussed measures to strengthen the party’s organisational network across Kashmir Province, improve coordination between district and zonal leadership, and intensify public outreach.
It concluded with an emphasis on maintaining a sustained grassroots presence and ensuring that party activities remain responsive to public concerns and aspirations.
