Raipur: Chhattisgarh high court has stayed the upcoming recruitment examinations for assistant teachers and teachers over the exclusion of mandated reserved categories, including visually impaired candidates.
A division bench of Chief Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra and Justice Santosh Sharma passed the interim order on Friday while hearing petitions filed by Faguram Bargah, Minakshi Manglekar and others.
The assistant teacher exam was scheduled for Oct 11 and the teacher exam for Oct 25.
During the hearing, Deputy Advocate General Prasun Kumar Bhaduri told the court that a corrigendum detailing category-wise reservations had been published in newspapers and uploaded to the Directorate of Public Instructions’ website.
The state govt said the application deadline for 2,292 assistant teacher posts had expired on Aug 21, while a revised notification including the completely blind category was issued only on Sept 11, making its inclusion in the ongoing recruitment difficult. The bench questioned this stand, observing that eligible candidates could not be excluded from mandated reservation quotas. It also noted that the corrigendum covered assistant teacher vacancies but omitted teacher posts.
HC ordered that exams remain on hold until all reserved categories are included and eligible candidates get an opportunity to apply.
