NEW DELHI: “Come on, arrest us! We have come here to get arrested. We are not afraid of you. Arrest us!”, CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained from inside their flight at Delhi airport on Sturday ahead of the CJP’s Jantar Mantar 2.0 protest.During the detention, Dipke said, “You can see where the nation is heading. They are here to arrest us directly from the flight. This is something even Indira Gandhi had not done. This is dictatorship, where Delhi Police has entered the flight and is trying to arrest us.”The leaders and some passengers chanted slogans such as “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Inquilab Zindabad” during the detention.“How did you come onto the flight? I will speak about this once I get outside. Please send the senior officers forward. Send the male officers forward,” Dipke said.“I have come here to get arrested. I have come here to get arrested. I am not afraid of you guys,” he added.“Which case will you charge me under? Rajasthan’s? NC, U.N.? Apply whatever sections you want,” Dipke asked.“Shall I take my bag? Shall I take it? Let’s go, ma’am,” Dipke said.Meanwhile, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was reportedly detained by Gurgaon Police on Saturday morning ahead of the protest. Sources said police personnel in plain clothes detained him after he refused to heed their advice not to attend the demonstration.Earlier, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das reacted after Delhi Police detained a few protesters who had begun gathering ahead of the party’s Jantar Mantar 2.0 protest. Das reposted a news agency ANI’s post on X reporting the detentions and wrote, “Not few. A storm is coming.”Das had earlier urged people to unite to protect democracy and reclaim the country. In a post on X, he described the protest as a fight to reclaim the country, save democracy and secure the future of Gen-Z. He urged people to gather at Jantar Mantar and said the movement would continue until a corruption-free system was ensured.Das also alleged that Delhi Police had exposed his phone number while circulating documents related to the party’s previous protest and a letter denying permission for the proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He said he had received more than 300 calls and numerous WhatsApp messages within an hour.In another post on X, Das alleged that his number had been leaked as part of what he described as a possible coordinated campaign. He also criticised media organisations for sharing the documents without redacting his number, saying they had circulated the material without taking basic precautions to protect his privacy.
