Jaipur: Rajasthan recorded fewer cases of rape, molestation, murder and robbery in the first nine months of 2026 compared with the corresponding period last year, while registrations under narcotics, arms and excise laws increased, according to the figures.Rape cases fell by 356, from 4,502 to 4,146, while cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act declined by 478, from 2,490 to 2,012. Molestation cases dropped by 603, from 8,172 to 7,569.Murder cases declined from 1,029 to 1,006, while attempted murder cases fell from 1,878 to 1,704. Robbery cases decreased from 803 to 673, dacoity from 61 to 49, and burglary from 4,662 to 4,446.In contrast, cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act rose by 35%, from 5,166 to 6,981, an increase of 1,815 cases. Police attributed the rise to sustained action against drug traffickers and gangs.Registrations under the Arms Act increased from 5,290 to 5,828, while cases under the Rajasthan Excise Act rose from 18,441 to 19,349.Cases registered under local and special laws also increased by 4,282, from 65,753 to 70,035. The figures indicate a decline in registrations for several serious offences alongside an increase in cases under laws linked to enforcement against narcotics, illegal arms and excise-related offences.
